Household Hazardous Waste Information

The Public Works Department is directly responsible for maintaining all designated county roads. Maintenance includes:
  
  • Snow Removal
  • Asphalt / Chip Placement
  • Road Sign Placement
  • Sign Repairs
  • Sweeping
  • Drainage
  • Monitor and Assist Flood Control Activities
Additional program managed by Public Works Administration regional transit.

CHANGES IN HOW RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE SERVICE FEES ARE COLLECTED:

Summit County residents have historically paid for household garbage and recycling through their property taxes. For 2016 and beyond, the County Council has determined the cost for waste collection and disposal should transition to a fee basis starting with the 2016’s annual rate of $36. Summit County has contracted with Republic Services to be the collection point for these fees, which will be billed once each year. Non-Payment is subject to late fees.

The added fee will be used to:
   • Cover the ever increasing cost to collect and dispose of household waste and recycling
   • Construct new landfill cells (existing cells at 3-Mile Landfill will reach its capacity in late 2017) and close the existing cell
   • Improve overall service across the County, including transfer locations (Common Dumpster Sites) as funds are available

Undeveloped properties (those without a permanent dwelling) are not subject to the new fee until developed. Those property owners should return their invoice to Summit County Public Works at 1755 South Hoytsville Road, Wanship, UT 84017 or to mheil@summitcounty.org so that this correction can be made.
